The Weight of the Day

Some moments belong to a year. Others belong to every century.

I saw her sitting there and something in the way she rested her head in her hand stopped me. It wasn’t just that she looked tired. It was a posture I felt I had seen before—in paintings, in photographs, in people waiting, worrying, thinking, or simply carrying too much for one day. There was nothing dramatic about the moment, and maybe that’s why it felt so human. I took the picture because it seemed to belong not just to that place and that day, but to people everywhere.
