Autumn Spring
I spotted these flowers while walking by not too long ago, just as summer was beginning to give way to fall. I like to call them autumn spring flowers. Around here, if we get a good rain in September, it sometimes feels like spring comes back for one last visit before the colder season settles in.
This year we had a couple inches of rain, and almost overnight things began to green up again. Flowers started returning in places where summer had nearly finished them off. These purple blossoms felt like part of that little revival—bright, cheerful, and almost unexpected.
They seemed to be honoring us with one more appearance before the year moved on.
Maybe that is what I liked most about them. They weren’t supposed to feel like spring anymore.
But there they were.

Who You Gonna Brick?
It started with a Halloween display and a little imagination. The decorations were already there, but what if something unexpected showed up? Something enormous, made entirely of LEGO bricks, wearing a sailor hat and smiling as though it hadn’t caused any trouble at all.
That’s when the Ghostbusters arrived. Three fully equipped professionals suddenly found themselves face-to-face with a giant marshmallow man who didn’t seem particularly interested in being busted.
Between the glowing pumpkins, drifting fog, and flashing proton packs, nobody appeared quite sure what to do next.
Sometimes the biggest surprise isn’t what frightens you. It’s what makes you smile.
